GSPC Roadside Ambush Kills Two

Although Algeria has been making considerable progress in its fight against Al-Qaeda linked Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat (GSPC), they still seem to be able to strike at will. Algeria's Le Matin reports (French) that last night the GSPC killed two off-duty Gendarmes on a highway, 40 kilometers east of Bouira. It is unclear whether the GSPC staged an ambush (as they've done before) or if the encounter was accidental.

If they feel confident to publicly take to the highways in groups, even though at night, it indicates that the GPSC may become more overtly in its actions in the coming period.
